There was a pub recorded on this site in the Ale House Register of 1561, listed in Bagshaw's Directory of 1850, acquired by Birkenhead Brewery in 1875. Selling Whitbread beers in the 1980s. The old photos show the pub in 1980 and at various times around 1880, 1890 and 1905.
