A short walk from Ditton Meadows and the River Cam, the building dates from 1540 and originally comprised three cottages. What you see today isn't greatly changed from the last alterations in 1954 - an attractive, multi-roomed, low-ceiling pub/restaurant. The small public bar at the front is for drinking and chatting. The Fold Bar, to the right, is for a drink or snack whilst the Lounge Bar, to the right, is for informal drinking and dining. Beyond this is the Shepherd's Kitchen dining area. Behind the rear car park is an attractive beer garden and B&B accommodation blocks with 5 en-suite rooms (one has wheelchair access [pub has limited access] and two are dog-friendly).
Formerly Punch Taverns owned, it reopened, free of tie, in early summer 2017. Its three hand pumps often offer a regional ale. Craft keg beers and lagers are on its six taps. It has a good reputation for its food as well its beer. Breakfast or coffee & cake served Saturdays 09:30 - 11:30.
There was another change of licensee in summer 2020. It reopened on 20 August with the emphasis going more towards food. Dining tables need to be booked in advance. Food deliveries also available.
This Pub serves 2 changing beers and 1 regular beer.
