Following demolition of the old Riverside Studios and four years of redevelopment, the new Riverside Studios opened in stages from late 2019. As before there is a theatre, cinema, cafe, bar and a restaurant now run by Sam who used to have a brasserie in Chiswick. It is a charitable community arts centre which now boasts a huge new open foyer typical of modern public architecture, with wall-washers for lighting and completely exposed ceiling ducts.
The main bar is on the right-hand side of the ground-floor foyer with an excellent view over the Thames & Hammersmith Bridge, the latter currently in course of being renovated. There is a range of craft beers and high above the bar are two huge 2’ x 6’ black-painted tanks labelled ‘Meantime brewery fresh’, dispensing lager and pale ale. No cask ale.
The cafe serves seasonal and continental dishes, with locally sourced, fresh ingredients; or the other food option is Sam's Riverside Brasserie with its own bar.
The venue also hosts a cinema bar that opens half an hour before cinema performances, serving various draught beers and other drinks.
Note that Hammersmith Bridge is currently (and possibly for years) closed to traffic which has reduced bus access (cycles & pedestrians allowed). The venue is a short walk south from the Hammersmith Broadway bus and tube station complex.
