This pub in St Mary Cray pub sits on the corner of Kent Road and Wellington Road. The entrance door opens up into a small and very white conservatory. Once entering the pub itself it is very narrow. Bench type seats and a few small tables mingle with the swan memorabilia. Very much a locals pub with friendly staff. There is a water bowl for dogs and 2 TV’s are on the walls.

As of October 2022, cask ale had been discontinued and staff were awaiting removal of the two handpumps.

Historic Interest

Records date back to 1832, when this public house was built to serve the growing community of "New Town" that developed between Orpington and St Mary Cray during the 19th C with the establishment of papermills on the River Cray. Previously, this was a small rural hamlet called Reynolds Cross, named after the staggered road junction (also called Smiths Cross), which served the main road between Orpington and Foots Cray as well as the lane to Chelsfield (Kent Road was previously called the Broadway).
