Sports pub.

The pub, formerly named the William IV, reopened in March 2015, following a complete refurbishment after closing the previous year. There is now a tastefully done comfortable interior retaining original features such as panelling and fireplaces.

There is more of an emphasis on food than before - mainly traditional pub fare, and an Irish theme.

Over 21s only. Dogs are welcome on front patio area only.

Historic Interest

Historically known as the "William IV", the current building dates from 1905 in mock Tudor style and was owned by Nalder & Collyer's brewery in Croydon. This replaced an earlier building, dating from the 18th C but serving as an inn by the mid 19th C, complete with stables at the rear. Located near to Elmers End Green, this would have served the once rural community (previously called "Alymers End" after the 13th C landowning family and also called "Elm-end") and was on the main road from Beckenham to Croydon. Housing encroached on the surrounding countryside following the opening of nearby Elmers End station in 1864.
