A local's pub in the heart of Menston village that is also popular with weekend hikers as it is situated on the Ebor Way. The interior comprises three rooms known as "House o' Commons" (in the former public bar), "Cross-benches" and "House o' Lords" respectively. There are no TVs, music or gaming machines. The pub offers good value meals including Sunday roasts. On Wednesday nights, a popular quiz is held with free home-cooked suppers provided. Sadly, the unique thatched roof to the bar, which was present for around 50 years, has now gone. The windows display the Sam Smith's medals and there is an interesting coat-of-arms pub sign. Being a Samuel Smith's pub, the use of mobile phones, laptops, tablets and similar electronic devices is banned and the pub has a no swearing policy. However, as a step towards modernity, the pub now accepts card payments as well as cash!
This Pub serves no changing beers and 1 regular beer.
