This is a restaurant, where drinking alcohol, including draught and bottled beer, is only allowed when food is being consumed.
It is said that the 'Three Nuns' took over the tavern in 1539 after the dissolution of the nearby nunnery in Kirklees Park. The present pub was constructed behind the original inn in 1939. Now sadly the historic name has been replaced by a corporate brand and the new theme is all manner of (mostly expensive) steaks, while real ale does not feature.
