The OC Freehouse is housed in a former working men’s club, now transformed into a cosy and welcoming venue with comfortable sofas gathered around the fire. The award-winning garden provides an attractive outdoor space, while the pub continues to support local charities. A spacious conservatory is available for functions and meetings.
The focus is firmly on quality rather than quantity, with two regularly rotating real ales, often increasing at weekends depending on demand. The beer range showcases independent and local brewers, with the new management team, in place since July 2025, passionate about expanding both the real ale and real cider offering while supporting small independent producers. Brewery tap takeover weekends are also planned for the future.
Street food vendors visit every Friday and Saturday, while live music has become a regular weekend feature. Quiz night takes place every Wednesday from 8.30pm, followed by “Play Your Cards Right” with a cash jackpot. Mirfield station is approximately one mile away. Opening hours are now consistent with those advertised.
