The Star Inn is the quintessential 16th Century English pub with its large log fires, oak beams, real ales & its warm, welcoming atmosphere. Currently run by two CAMRA members the four real ales are supplemented by a range of craft keg beers, bottled beers and real cider. Charcuterie boards are available lunchtimes and home-made pizzas are served in the evening every day of the week. A classic pub not to be missed.
Historic Interest
First run as a "Beer House" in the 19th Century, when it acquired its name. Today it is a Grade II listed building in a conservation area, & boasts beautiful bressemer beams, carved oak beams in an old English style. Three drinking areas in this well-beamed 17th century timber-framed building, each with a superb fireplace (one with a carved lintel). The Star appears to have had a revamp in the late 1950s. The style of the bar counter and the two bar backs with illuminated panels at the top is of a style seen with 1950/60s pubs. The central part of the pub has wainscotting that looks 50s and has been slightly opened up to the right hand room. The third small room has been brought into use as a dining room. Note the rare Dalex manufactured horizontal handpumps behind the bar - two of the three pumps are still working and in regular use, the only other known set in use is at the
