Large, community local on the north side of Gladstone Park. For most if its life it was called the Ox & Gate as the original Ox Gate Farm building stands diagonally opposite in a sad state of repair. Was named Whelans "as part of roll-out of a new Irish brand" said to offer traditional Irish food and whiskies, alongside wine, craft beer, breakfasts, snacks, sports screens, and live music. Sunday roasts served 12-7. Attempt to sell real ale failed resulting in three unused handpumps. Another operator took over October 2023.
