This site was occupied by the Cricketers, destroyed during WWII, its replacement was known as the Good Mixer built in the 1950s, derived from the cement mixer that was absent-mindedly trapped in the pub during its construction. Starting life as a working man's pub, it gained notoriety as the drinking pub of choice for a long list of bands throughout the 90s Britpop years.
The pub was the setting for the opening blow in the Oasis vs Blur feud where on meeting Graham Coxon for the first time Noel Gallagher reportedly said: "Nice Music, Shit clothes." The pub was where the band Elastica signed with Deceptive Records, where Menswe@r are said to have formed and was a regular haunt for many celebrities. Amy Winehouse was often seen playing regulars on the pool tables.
It had two separate bars, dominated by a pool table and a bar billiards table, fairly dark with matchboard panelling and dark ceilings. Juke box.
