11/04/25 - Reopened by Friendship Pub Company (Bank of Friendship, Carpenters Arms E2) who have taken over this pub. This followed a couple of months refurbishment. Now strictly over 21s. Cashless bar.
An interesting range of 3 cask beers is on offer - for instance in May 2025 the third beer was Thalassa from All Day Brewing Co in "in the charming town of Reepham, North Norfolk".
Originally a coach house (a small building for housing coaches, carriages and other vehicles) dating back to the 1700′s, it is one of the oldest remaining public houses in the borough of Hackney which was formerly in the county of Middlesex.
Past History
May 2022 - reopened under new management.In Jan 2022 the pub closed and was boarded up, its future then was uncertain.
Historic Interest
Grade II listed:- Mid C19 3-storey, 3-window building. Stucco with incised lines. Pilasters, with wreaths in frieze, support cornice and parapet raised in centre. Sash windows with glazing bars in moulded architraves, with console bracketed cornices on 1st floor. Ground floor public house front altered, The building contains an older core.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 2 regular beers.
