Open in 1866. Despite the name, real ale ceased being served several years ago. Multiple keg beers available, including 3 from Brewdog. Accommodation available. This pub was originally called the New Market Inn, probably because it was the newest pub built to serve the former Metropolitan Cattle Market. It also dates from at least 1864.

Planning application - 2023/3891/P. Renovation of the existing public house (sui generis) at ground floor and basement level and erection of an additonal storey, an infill extension and a roof extension to provide seven self contained flats (Class C3).
