Originally a 15th century coaching inn, with its own brewery and stable, rebuilt following a fire in the 17th century and re-named as The Phoenix. It has an open plan layout with two areas and an open fire. There are picnic tables outside on what was the car park but there are two public car parks nearby plus on street parking.

Grade II Listed, and listing says late 18th century. Historic England list entry 1110337.
