This Pub is Closed Long Term

This old fashioned family pub was originally a coaching inn dating back to the 18th century. A large walled garden makes it ideal for families in summer. Most meals, including the good value Sunday lunches, are prepared on the premises and all meat and vegetables are sourced locally. Bed and breakfast accomodation is available in two rooms. Veranda at the front of the pub lets you watch the world stroll by.

Active Campaign

Residents in Haddenham have organised a Summer Party on 4th July 2026 to help raise funds to try and reopen the Rose & Thistle, which closed in 2019. A planning application for change of use to housing was granted in 2024 (23/03765/APP). A Community Benefit Society called Haddenham Community Public House Limited has been registered, with the goal of raising £750,000 to buy, refurbish an re-open the pub. A community share scheme has been launched with a minimum investment of £100. So far, the crowdfunding campaign, entitled The Rose & Thistle Reborn, has raised more than £65,000.
