Large, gothic conversion of a former church. Named after the ruins of Slains Castle, near Cruden Bay, in north-east Aberdeenshire which is rumoured to have influenced Bram Stoker to write Dracula. The pub is on various levels and has a gothic feel to it.
It was planned to convert this pub to a Slug & Lettuce but it was refurbished in 2024 and was renamed from Slains Castle to simply Slains so no Slug & Lettuce!
No longer selling cask ale.
