Previously a farm, the pub dates back to 1810, and is now a small, family-run community local in the middle of a conservation area. Very much a cheery, regulars' establishment, it is renowned for its warm welcome to visitors.
A wide range of good value, home-cooked food is available.
The location is convenient for visiting Tolquhon Castle, Haddo House and Pitmedden Gardens which were laid out in the 17th century by Sir Alexander Seddon with elaborate flower beds, fountains and pavilions.
One ale normally served, changing between national and Scottish ale mainly from breweries listed. Excellent wall mounted wood-carving in public bar.
