Commenting on the publication of the Alliance Party’s manifesto for the General Election, Chair of CAMRA NI Ruth Sloan said:
“CAMRA NI welcomes Alliance’s proposals to minimise disruption to North-South supply chains in the agri-foods sector in order to boost sales into GB and the EU.
“We would like to see any future agricultural strategy along these lines include local brewers and cider producers, who are currently the only businesses with an agricultural product that they can’t sell directly, can’t sell online and who struggle to access markets across these islands and further afield to due outdated alcohol licensing laws.
“CAMRA NI also welcomes a commitment in this manifesto to getting Stormont back up and running which would allow much-needed reform of alcohol licensing laws so that small brewers and cider producers here can expand their businesses, employ more people and sell more high quality, locally produced beers and cider to locals and tourists alike.”
