  • Outstanding pub restoration

A regular local CAMRA award winner, this popular town centre pub just off Sauchiehall Street is handy for restaurants and entertainment venues and gets busy at weekends. It has a traditional island bar. The ale choice often includes unfined beers and strongly hopped beers which are rarely seen in Glasgow. Old pictures and showbills displayed around the walls reflect the pub’s proximity to the King’s Theatre. There are blues sessions on alternate Tuesdays.

Restoration

Opened in 1906 but the Edwardian interior was lost in a 1960s refurbishment. The excellent restoration has a splendid, curved neo-Victorian island bar with elegant pillars supporting the gantry. There is an original stained-glass heraldic window.
