A chance to visit one of our popular rural pubs to enjoy an evening of Wassailing with the Ravensbourne Morris.
An evening celebrating Keston’s heritage as part of Kent's famous apple industry. Don’t miss the Apple tree Wassail and the Wassailing Bowl going around. The toast is: Wassail! Your response is: Drink Hail! Music and singing from the Ravensbourne Morris Singer’s collection of drinking songs, shanties and chorus songs. The extraordinary Ravensbourne Mummers will perform a vigorous, traditional Winter Play. In 1797, Edward Hasted wrote in his History of Kent of his disdain for the rustic Keston and Wickham Wassailers. 227 years later and it’s still going on! This important local custom is distinctive to Keston. Come and join us as we continue the tradition. In a Wassail Bowl we’ll drink unto thee.
NB This social has been relocated at relatively short notice. It was originally scheduled to take place at The Two Doves, Oakley Rd.
