The Rat & Ratchet was originally established as a brewpub in 1994. Brewing ceased and it was purchased by Ossett Brewery (qv) in 2004. Brewing restarted in 2011 with a capacity of 30 barrels per week. A wide range of occasional brews with rat-themed names supplement the regular beers.

A velvety dark brown mild. Low bitterness with a sweet malty finish from a blend of three roasted malts. The delicate hop aroma is not overpowering.
