Top Notch Session Bitter is a classic British ale that is low-gravity, sessionable, and meant to be consumed a few pints at a time. It's a balance between hop bitterness and malt sweetness, with a light amber colour. English hops provide floral, earthy, bitterness and an aroma of stone fruit, the malt flavour is biscuity, and mildly sweet as a contrast to the clean and well defined bitterness

Judging for the competition takes around a year, starting with individual nominations from CAMRA members and tasting panel nominations, leading to a series of rigorous regional heats adhering to a strict blind tasting policy.
