Half a mile north of the town centre, opposite Sainsbury’s supermarket on the A167 Darlington road, this community local takes its name from the English defeat of the Scots at the nearby Battle of the Standard in 1138. The interior decor is 'olde worlde' style with bare stone and brickwork and old photographs, and three distinct drinking areas offering a wide range of good value food with a South Korean influence.
