This Pub is Permanently Closed

This pub is under threat, with current owners, Punch Taverns, wanting to demolish it for redevelopment. UPDATE: Punch Taverns have now applied for planning permission to build a supermarket on the site. See www.eadt.co.uk/news/gt_cornard_residents_push_to_save_18th_century_pub_1_1670013. UPDATE 2: Nov 8 2012, Babergh Council has put in place an order preventing the demolition of the building. Whilst this doesn't actually save the pub, it may delay any redevelopment. UPDATE 3: Dec 7 2012, Planning permission for demolition of the pub & its redevelopment has been refused. See www.suffolkfreepress.co.uk/news/latest-news/supermarket-plans-for-great-cornard-pub-are-refused-1-4567424. The pub dates back to the 18th century or earlier.
