Traditional real ale pub previously a CAMRA national pub of the year.
A Grade II-listed, previous CAMRA National Pub of the Year in 1991. It is situated near to the former low-level railway station. It was sympathetically refurbished in Spring 2021.
The interior consists of four areas, front bar, long lounge on the left, snug on the right and conservatory at the back.
It attracts a varied clientele, including a rock climbing club and railway enthusiast groups. Plenty of railway and Wolves FC memorabilia is on display and four cosy real fires blaze in the winter. A couple of TV's show terrestrial sport (rugby, snooker, darts etc).
Meals are served noon until 7pm, but not on Sundays unless there is a home Wolves match when food is served before and after the game. Cobs and pork pies are available all day. Holden's merchandise is available (by pre-ordering only) at the same price as the brewery's shop.
The pub was once at the end of a street of terraced houses which have since all been demolished to make way for industrial development.
