Large comfortable pub with one main bar and separate dining area. Though licensed in 1857, the pub was mostly rebuilt in 1865. The pub name comes from the sovereign coat of arms presented to the City of Hereford by King Charles I.

The pub won a Fuller's Griffin Trophy award in November 2017, being adjudged its best City/London pub of the year.

Historic Interest

The author Conan Doyle was a customer. Americans frequented the pub during the 1st world war, and nearby Hereford Square was turned into a baseball diamond for games with locally based allied troops.
