This Pub is Permanently Closed
It is now called Derby House and contains a number of residences.
This lastly Shepherd Neame pub predates the viaduct which overlooks it by over half a century. It was rated to James Collyer as early as 1849 and named after Edward George Stanley, 14th Earl of Derby, former MP, scholar and fan of the turf. The late broadcaster and humorist Frank Muir was born and spent much of this childhood at the pub.
