Upmarket backstreet gastropub somewhat improbably named after an 18th century Lancashire dialect poet and engraver whose work adorns the walls, ceiling and even the cigarette machine. Sunday evening quiz. Meals all day at weekends. A few etched glass panes survive in the doors to the street and a Watneys Red Barrel fascia, curiously, on the bar back.

The name had until recently been shortened to the Bobbin for several years.

Historic Interest

Grade II listing:- Late C19. Two storey. Red brick in rather elaborate treatment. Original Public House front on ground floor with 3 doorways. Four plate glass sashes. Upper floor with iron balconies.
