This Pub is Closed Long Term
Wetherspoon's handed the lease back in 2021, and the freeholder sold the property to someone who was not a pub operator. As at December 2024, the premises are being converted to a gym, which is being advertised.
The following description and accompanying details are retained here for the record.
Opened in 2006 on the site of a former Co-op supermarket, this comfortable pub commemorates the 19th century farmer whose estate made way for the modern suburb around the eponymous station.
Inside is one large, warm, deep room, half wood-panelled with mirrored pillars and ample seating. There are fruit machines but no music, flat TV screens typically showing news but with no sound.
The ciders are served on gravity from fridges behind the bar.
Accompanied children are welcome until 9pm if dining. Smokers welcome only in the exposed front 'veranda' area.
