A traditional, two roomed bar close to the town centre, which offers three or four cask ales.

The front bar has scrubbed tables and a low ceiling whilst the rear bar is quieter and gives access to a separate seating area. There is a garden and a car-park (off Castle Street). The smoking area is behind the pub.

As at November 2026 the pub serves over 25s only.

Opening hours may vary from time to time and visitors may wish to confirm them with the pub.

Historic Interest

Nearby the Castle Brewery was owned by William Lockwood from 1844 (closed in 1912 when it was called Lockwood & Co).
