This Pub is Permanently Closed
On the edge of St Ives town centre (previously The Aviator, with the former pub sign still dispalyed inside the pub). A new landlord who also runs another pub in St Ives has recently taken over the running of this pub. The focus will be on real ale and cider, with occasional live music when it will close at a later time. Two real ales are currently available one of which will normally be from a local brewery. A third hand pump has recently been installed. Belgian and US bottled beers are also available. A CAMRA discount scheme has been introduced.
It is hoped that food will be available once the new management have settled in. The pub can be hired for functions when most of the bar area can be cordoned off.
Historic Interest
The pub traded as The Dun Horse for over 200 years. In 1992 it was renamed The Aviator a reference to the crash of a RFC aeroplane into the steeple of the nearby parish church in March 1918. After a short period of closure the pub reopened as The Merchant House in 2015.
