One of the oldest buildings in the village, this popular community pub is situated on The Pennine Way and features a large comfortable main bar with fires at both ends. Four beers are always available on handpulls. The beer garden is reached via a door from the bar. Walkers are very welcome. As of Spring 2022 the pub was also selling soap handmade in the village, homemade dog biscuits, and a book about local walks.

Renovation of the upstairs area as the main restaurant is well under way, which will allow the downstairs area to be more of a pub. Completion is expected during November 2024 and will include a new fully accessible entrance, toilets and a lift to upstairs.
