Active Campaign
The pub closed in June 2023. An Asset of Community Value was attained in 2023. The Bayford Community Benefit Society have launched a Community Share Offer. When McMullens (the pub owner) put the pub on the market for sale, Bayford Community Benefit Society failed to make an Expression Of Interest and the moratorium period concluded on 1 January 2024. McMullens then put the marketing of the pub on hold to allow further discussions with the community group. McMullens then proposed a scheme making the pub slightly smaller and a new house built in the back garden, and this was supported by the community group. A planning application was submitted (3/25/0914/FUL, validated 29 May 2025) but this was rejected on 12 May 2026. The community group continues to campaign to purchase the pub's freehold.
