The White Lion is a proper locals' pub in the eastern suburbs of Aldershot. Closed by COVID in 2020 it reopened in June 2023 after being refurbished with brushed wood tables and floors and dark blue wood panelling. The pub has retained its two-room layout however the former snug on the right-hand side is now dominated by a pool table with a serving hatch from the bar.

The bar has tables, chairs and stools which can be rearranged for Friday evening live entertainment. Several screens show Sports TV and music of all genres is often heard.

Previously run by Triple fff Brewery the White Lion has retained the brewery identity outside and regularly serves Triple fff beers and a changing beer.

Heading east from the town, Aldershot has “Three Lions”, The Golden Lion, The Red Lion with The White Lion completing the sequence.

Historic Interest

Built shortly after the army arrived in Aldershot in 1854, the first known reference to the White Lion is in 1857 when it was a beer house on Farnham Road owned and run by Frederick Lee. It wasn’t until 1938 that a wine licence was obtained and a spirits licence in 1959. This is one of the oldest surviving pubs in the town and a rare example of a two-room pub in Aldershot.
