The original King´s Head was in a small house on Ash Street, when it first opened in 1854 it was called the Railway Arms. It later moved to a larger building next door, called the Poplars, back from the road, with a large beer garden. Planning permission was granted in 1992 to demolish the pub and erect a new building containing 19 one bedroom flats and 4 two bedroom flats.
