This Pub is Permanently Closed

Originally the George & Dragon, this pub overlooking the ugly Belfry centre was just called the Dragon when Shepherd Neame took it over from Friary Meux. Like many Shepherd Neame pubs in the area, this did not last long and the building became Papillon, which was a bar and restaurant. In 2012 it became Everest Spice, a Nepalese and Indian restaurant. The song "Happy Hour" by the Housemartins was written about this pub.
