Believed to date back to the 16th century, the pub was sold to Brains in 1999. The interior is very traditional, with beamed ceilings and some secluded corners. A 25-seater restaurant is at the rear and the adjacent old stable is converted into a function room. Traditional pub food with curry nights on Tuesday and Thursdays and a steak night on Fridays. A feature of the pub is the extensive collection of archive photographs and memorabilia. This is not an interior designer's job lot. It has been put together from many sources over a number of years and has much interest as local history. There is a walled garden terrace at the rear and a covered smoking area.
