This Pub is Permanently Closed
Reliably informed that this pub has recently been demolished. It was standing when I passed it mid-September last year.
Ex-Taylor Walker and reportedly built in 1965.
in Spring 2008 purchased by Colombian owners and re-named as a Latin American themed pub. Has had an internal refurbishment and the original Taylor Walker facade and free-standing hanging pub sign have been removed. Once sold Tetley Bitter and Burton Ale. Closed and developers held an open day to explain their plans to convert to flats. On 22 May 2013 a Certificate of Lawfulness for proposed change of use from A4 (Public House) to A1 (Shops) was made. This was granted on the 8 July. Although this is not required it makes it easier for developers to make subsequent applications. A bookshop giving away free books then opened in the former pub. On the 24 June 2013 an application was made to demolish and replace with flats, this was refused and an appeal was subsequently dismissed. On the 20 June 2014 an application was registered to convert the upper floors to retail use.
