A one time Good Beer Guide entry, the pub was forced to close for a time due to subsidence and it has never regained its former glories. Once a Davenports tied house, alongside The Station in Abergavenny and several other pubs in the area that facilitated one dray a week making the trip down from the brewery in Birmingham. Real ale has been discontinued (Oct 2016).
