A JDW pub but a Lloyd's No. 1 bar by night (THUR-SAT), so slightly more lively at night than during the day. Ten hand-pulls currently in use for Real Ale. Pub is named after one of the towns Medieval Walled gates no longer in existence. Built in the 1930's as a Ballroom, then Snooker Hall, Night club, before becoming a Wetherspoons pub. Recent changes to the lighting have greatly improved the overall atmosphere, very pleasant well trained staff, with real ale & cider served too a consistently high standard from National, Regional and Local breweries. Well used by locals & visitors alike.
This Pub serves 3 changing beers (These are changed frequently from a national and regional list always including 1 x >5%) and 4 regular beers.
