The Boat sits in an idyllic spot adjacent to the River Erewash, close to Pinxton Wharf. Refurbished to a high standard in 2018, it has a spacious bar/dining area and two smaller rooms at the rear. The pub also has a large beer garden and parking at the front. Ian and Chelsea Butler, formerly of the Hop Inn, took over as tenants in 2026, introducing a changing selection of guest ales. Up to four real ales are available, often from local breweries, including a house ale from the nearby Bridges Brewery. Food is served all day, and many events are held, including live music (see Facebook). Branch Village Pub of the Season Summer 2026.

Historic Interest

The inn was built in 1795 wen the Pinxton branch of the Cromford Canal was cut. The wharf was the terminus for the canal,which was built to link the collieries to the river Trent, and is very important to the area's heritage. Coal was mined on a small scale in Pinxton since Tudor times. With the arrival of a branch of the Cromford Canal in the 1790's a localised industrial revolution began.
