A rather grand grade II listed late Victorian public house of the gin palace style. Built in 1903 to a design by architects Freeman, Son & Gaskell, it is constructed in red brick with a terrracotta clad ground floor, and terracotta dressings. inside it is a basic single bar with no apparent heritage features. Lager, Guinness and John Smiths smooth are the mainstay drink offerings with no real ale available. The freehold having changed hands in January the pub has now reopened while the new owners consider their options for the pub.
