This Pub is Permanently Closed
Owner had previously sought to convert the site to nine luxurary houses, building in to green site. Pre-planning enquiries did not find LA approval. Premises remain closed.
This pub closed to public trade in October 2017. Previously the owner sought planning permission for its demolition, but that did not yet found favour with the LA. Subsequently, change of use from Public House (use class sui generis) to C3 Dwelling House was sought and approved by HBC Jan 2025.
The pub was located close to the Preston Brook tunnel on the nearby canal hence the name. There was a community focus and a large outside space/ play area. A local and passing trade was supplemented by walkers and those using the canal.
