The Commercial opened in 1831 and was enlarged in 1859. It was the first pub in Bottom Mossley and initially catered for coach travellers and later for those arriving by rail. Nowadays it is more likely to be a stopping point for rail ale trail enthusiasts. The refurbished open-plan interior has a central bar.
