Active Campaign
A campaign has been active since 2014 trying to acquire the freehold of The White Horse at Kimpton. The pub was sold by McMullens in 2014 to a property developer. They campaigners (The White Horse at Kimpton Ltd, a Community Benefit Society) managed to get the developers subsequent change of use planning application rejected and also his application to rescind the ACV. The pub was put on the market again in 2016 and the community raised enough money to purchase the freehold and renovate the building to return it to use as a traditional country pub. Unfortunately the campaigners were significantly outbid by two property speculators. They ensured a planning application for change of use by the current owner was rejected in 2021 and have been in dialogue with him since then to attempt to agree a fair price for the freehold for an increasingly dilapidated building.
