It is believed that the Bushel and Strike was built in 1854. It began as a house which was next door to an older pub called the Wheatsheaf. This pub was later pulled down and the current house became the Bushel.

The pub reopened in March 2024, after a short period of closure, and is now operated by Hertsfields, an events company who also operate the Fox at Pirton and White Horse at Arlesey.
