The Victory was a small pub just to the east of the town centre. It is known to have been trading by 1852. The photograph is from 1902 and the bunting is to celebrate the coronation of Edward VII. It also provides evidence that at the time the pub was probably part of the tied estate of Dartford brewers C N Kidd & Son. Kidd's was swallowed by Courage in 1937 and The Victory traded as a Courage house for much of the mid-20th century before being acquired by Shepherd Neame in the 1970s. The pub was extended around this time but SN's commitment waned and the death knell was sounded in 2000. After closure the pub was converted to a pizza takeaway, and so it remains to this day (2020).
