This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Chequers, Crouch (pronounced Crooch) is believed to have been established as a pub in around 1600. The older of the two photographs (thanks to www.dover-kent.com) suggests that it was part of the original Westerham Brewery's tied estate in the mid-20th century. It later traded as a free house, before briefly becoming an Italian restaurant and later re-opening as a pub in the years leading up to its final closure in 2008. A sad loss to the village.
It was later converted to residential accommodation.
