This well-presented Wetherspoon bar provides an oasis of real ale in an area not renowned for it. The pub is situated in the town's shopping centre and good food is always available. Nearby is Horden which at one time boasted the biggest pit in Britain, where miners worked the High Main, Yard and Five Quarter seams - from where the pub took its name, reflecting the area's coal mining heritage.
