A large and attractive pub with hotel and restaurant facilities. Extensive seating includes soft leather sofas in front of open fires and dining tables. The pub opens at 7am for cooked breakfasts, with non-residents welcome after 10am. Several rooms can be booked for private functions.

Originally a 100 acre farm, it became an inn and restaurant in 1990 and the former stable block from when it was an equestrian centre has been converted in a wedding venue called the Durham Suite. A second purpose built venue is called the Old Barn.
